The Root of it All: The Seeds That Grew Into A Dream

Some of my earliest and dearest memories were made on my Grandma Jean's farm - a tucked-away piece of land where time moved slower and life felt full. I spent long afternoons fishing for catfish down by the pond, the cattails swaying in the breeze, and plucking ripe persimmons straight from the tree. I'd wander the woods with Cody, the Giant German Shepherd - fierce in stature but gentle as a teddy bear - always just a few steps behind me, watching over my every adventure.

There was a peppermint patch near the stream that flowed under the old log by her house, and I'd pick the leaves to chew as I watched the birds from the back deck, name each one as it passed. She passed away when I was only six of breast cancer, but the memories have lived on with me ever since - etched deep into the soil of who I am.

Years later, after I became a mama myself, I longed to pass that kind of wonder on to my own children. But at the time, we lived in a small apartment with no land to tend - only a tiny mint plant on the kitchen windowsill to remind me where I came from and where I dreamed of going.

That little mint plant was the beginning.

Today, Radiant Farmstead is the continuation of that dream - proof that you don't need acres of land or a perfect plan to start living simply and sustainably. I believe homesteading doesn't have to be overwhelming. It can be gentle, joyful, and deeply fulfilling - an invitation to slow down, dig in, and live more connected to the land and to each other.

Tiny Home, Big Love

We're a family of six - two big kids, a middle, and a little, and a whole lot of love squeezed into a 41-foot RV. It's a life full of togetherness (and occasionally tripping over someones shoes), but it's also full of laughter, learning, and the kind of memories that linger.

Our twin girls are thoughtful, creative, and full of spark. Our son is curious and kind, with a heart for animals and creativity. And our baby girl? She's the sunshine in the chaos, growing up with a front-row seat to it all... and holding her own.

I met my husband, Nick, after becoming a mama to my three older kids. He stepped into our lives with a steady heart and an open mind, and together we began dreaming big. From quiet conversations over tea, to long talks under the stars, we started shaping a vision for a life that was slower, simpler, and full of meaning - one where we could raise our kids close to the land and even closer to love.

Living small has stretched us in the best ways. Every square foot has a purpose, every meal feels like a gathering, and every sunset outside our windows reminds us why we chose this path. It's not perfect, but it's ours - and we wouldn't trade it for the world.

This season is one of new beginnings. A chance to start fresh, plant deep, and grow something lasting together.

you think you've been buried,

but actually you've been planted."
